Filomila F- Visual Artist
Visual artist based in Athens, Greece.
I grew up in Heraklion, Creta until 2012, when I started studying in Athens School of Fine Arts until graduation. I finished my studies by getting an Integrated Master with an ’excellent’ score from the A’ studio of painting under proffessor A. Antonopoulos. During my studies, I got involved with painting, sculpture under N. Tranos, as well as ceramics. Also, I finished a course on art tutoring for secondary education.
In 2016 I transferred to the Willem De Kooning Academy Fine Arts department in Rotterdam via the Erasmus programm. There, it was mostly about digital media and sketching, while also volunteering at the Rotterdam Art Fair.
Upon returning to Athens I worked as an art tutor for a while (2017) and then interned as a teacher at a primary school (2018). Finally, before wrapping up my final degree project in ASFA, I interned at the 6th Athens Biennial. The main focus for me during the exhibition was assisting in the construction of Sarawut Chutiwongpeti's installation and also assisting in a lasting performance by the artist Linnea Sjodberg.
Drawing inspiration
The focus of my work shifts often, form exotic flora and sea creatures to social observation and the techno scene. However, the common denominator in most of my pieces is the illumination of an adult glimpse on plain happiness and desire.
